Rally in Albany: Fossil Free Education, Fossil Free Future!

  • Climate Solutions Accelerator of the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region 758 South Ave. Suite #4 Rochester, NY 14620 USA (map)

Join the New York Youth Climate Leaders in Albany on August 6th to demand that the NYS legislature take action on climate change and the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS) divest from fossil fuels.

This year, the legislature passed ZERO ambitious climate bills. Legislative leadership hides behind the CLCPA, claiming that they cannot pass additional climate legislation until the Climate Action Council releases its recommendations. These excuses are merely delay tactics, and they threaten the livelihoods of our generation and future generations. Please join us as we demand that they take swift action next year.

Additionally, with an estimated $4.5 billion invested in the fossil fuel industry, NYSTRS is doing their pensioners and the planet a disservice by continuing to invest in fossil fuels. If they divest now, they will increase the security of the pension since the fossil fuel industry is a financial liability as it declines in value. The fossil fuel industry is destroying the planet and our future, making fossil fuels an immoral investment as well. We are showing up in Albany, on August 6th, at 1:30 PM in West Capitol Park (across from 89 Washington Ave) to demand that NYSTRS invest in our future! Will you join us? A bus will be running from Rochester to the rally!  Register here
